Description:

From 1999 to 2012, Waagner Biro carried out several major contracts for the supply and installation of modular steel bridges in the Philippines. The main clients have been the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). The main goal was to upgrade the bridge infrastructure to accommodate a higher load capacity and thus ensure an unimpeded flow of traffic to and out of hitherto poorly developed areas. In total, 436 bridges with 30 or 60m spans and a total length of nearly 22 km were delivered. In July 2008 a contract calling for the turnkey construction of 18 bridges with a length of 1,480 m was signed. It was completed in 2012.
