Completion: 2003
Project type: Panel Bridges
Client: Municipality Klosterneuburg

Description:

The Waagner-Biro Panel Bridge (Bailey type) was erected within 4 days by the Austrian Armed Forces across a branch of the river Danube at Klosterneuburg (near Vienna) employing a launching nose.

The bridge has a span of 52.5m and a deck width of 4.365m. The structural design allows for both Military Load Class (MLC) 30 (30-ton vehicle) as well as pedestrian and bicycle loading according to EC 1 (p=350 kg/m²).

The bridge system is based on modular, prefabricated components, which can be combined by simple means of connection to allow for flexible adaptation to individual spans and loads as well as for very short time of erection.
