Description:

Waagner-Biro Bridge Systems is one of the main suppliers of temporary, modular and rental bridging. Temporary bridging is also available for pedestrian traffic. Single or multi-span footbridges can be constructed using Waagner-Biro standard panel bridge components. Pedestrian bridges can also be designed as U-frame structures for providing a slender and cost-effective bridge solution.

In 2021, Waagner-Biro Bridge Systems supplied a temporary pedestrian U-frame bridge (based on the panel bridge system) to a construction site near Munich. The bridge was dismantled in 2023. The frame bridge consisted of two spans of 55 metres each for a total length of 110 metres. The deck width was 2.5 metres. For better anti-slip grip, the footwalk decks were fitted with an epoxy resin coating. The structure was designed according to the pedestrian loads of Eurocode.

The structures were assembled and launched into position using a launching nose which consisted of the same parts as the bridge itself. The bridge was fitted with a drainage system made of foldable sheets beneath the deck. This way, the water would gather within these sheets and be drained off at either end of the bridge.
