When a quarry operation near Gomi, Georgia, needed a reliable crossing over the Mtkvari River, time was critical. Extracted bulk material had to be transported from one side of the river to the other, requiring a bridge solution capable of carrying heavy construction vehicles while being installed quickly.
Waagner-Biro Bridge Systems supplied a 33.5 m single-span panel bridge for the Gomi Quarry Project on behalf of Black Sea Group LLC. With a 3.15 m carriageway width and a load capacity designed for 50-tonne vehicles, the bridge provides a robust connection for heavy-duty quarry operations. The bridge was supplied together with standard steel deck elements featuring a raised-pattern surface.
Fast installation with minimal equipment
One of the key advantages of the project was the speed of installation. The complete bridge was assembled in just three days. Once assembled, the 33.5 m span was lifted into its final position using a mobile crane.
