Description:
In 2005, Waagner-Biro began to enter into business relations with a Moroccan engineering company in order to supply panel bridges (Bailey-type bridges) to Morocco. By the summer of 2006, the collaboration between Waagner-Biro and DPI Ingenierie had yielded its first result: a contract for the supply of an emergency bridge. The bridge – 49 metres long and 7.35 metres wide – was delivered to Qued Zem a few months later, at the end of 2006. There the end user – the Moroccan Road Authority "Direction des Routes et de la Circulation Routière" (DRCR) – had set up a storage area for emergency bridges. The commercial transaction of the bridge was settled with the help of the Moroccan company Isoform.
End of 2007, the second panel bridge was delivered to Morocco. What was so special about the whole project was not only the delivery of parts for a 7.35m wide bridge, but also the supply of additional components with which the bridge could be built to accommodate the smaller width of 3.15m. This project proceeded smoothly and to the full satisfaction of the customer.
A year later, Waagner-Biro was entrusted with the delivery of the third panel bridge. This bridge was likewise designed for two alternative road widths. In April 2009, the bridge was delivered to Qued Zem, following which a two-week training for its assembly and handling was carried out.
In November 2011, Waagner-Biro delivered its fourth panel bridge with a length of almost 43 metres to Morocco. All components were supplied for one and two-lane construction. The scope of supply also provided for the delivery of steel ramps, assembly tools and launching equipment. After the delivery, a training for the installation of the bridge was conducted on site.
